Music & Drums

As far as I can remember I've always noticed music, but what really got me into it was my Dad listening to rock bands like Queen, Guns 'n' Roses, Rainbow, Deep Purple etc. in the house. The first CD I bought was Aerosmith's "Big Ones" and since that time I've built up a good collection of albums spanning loads of genres from Death Metal to Folk. I'll give anything a chance - if I like it then I like it - I don't understand these people who pretend to like something to look cool, or equally pretend to hate something they like for the same reason!

Drumming

When I was 11 I got the chance to have music lessons at school - I chose the drums and loved every minute of it! I've been playing drums for around 14 years now and still love it as much as I did then!

I've admired and been influenced by loads of different drummers over the years, some of my favourites include Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damageplan etc.), Jojo Mayer, Danny Carey (Tool), Chris Pennie (Dillinger Escape Plan, Coheed & Cambria), Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band) plus many more.

I'm currently playing in Disarm (punk/rock/metal) and Sporadic Slaughter (death metal). Disarm have a debut album in shops and tour regularly, whereas Sporadic Slaughter is more of a casual 'just-for-fun' type thing. I enjoy playing in both bands immensely - being in a band is probably the best thing I've ever done!

Gear: I'm currently playing a Mapex Orion kit in Ebony Burst - 22x20" kick, 12x8", 14x12", 16x16" toms and a Black Panther Walnut snare, DW5000 double pedal, Pearl and Mapex hardware and Sabian and Zildjian cymbals.

Band to Check Out!

I'm no musical authority and don't aspire to be, but I reckon all of these bands are worth a listen. In fact, I reckon all bands / artists deserve at least one listen - there doesn't seem to be many people into checking out new music these days :-(
